Lora Schansberg Award

AWARD HONOREE - LORA SCHANSBERG

AWARD PROCESS :

Each winter, the coaching staff of Rock Soccer reviews the senior High School players and recommends young men and women who have had a significant contribution to the sport and to the club. Coaches consider on the field and off the field leadership, contribution, and impact to the sport. 

To be nominated, an individual must have the highest values of caring, fairness, civility, honesty, integrity and responsibility in his or her daily participation in Rock Soccer activities. To do this, a player should have demonstrated:

• The highest level of respect to teammates, opposing players, coaches, referees and spectators.
• Been a staunch defender against racism and violence.
• In victory, was very gracious: in defeat, remained dignified.
• Accepted full responsibility for his or her actions.
• Left a positive impact on the soccer community

These nominees are requested to draft an essay where the student athlete describes in their own words how soccer has impacted them and their impact on the sport.

The essays are presented to the Rock Soccer board who removes the names from all nominees and presents the essays to a subcommittee for review. This subcommittee consisting of 3 past Board Members. They review the essays and complete a score rubric based off their assessment of the essays.
